- If we make any changes to our privacy policy, we will post the revisions in an obvious location on our site.

The information we collect and how we use it
Unlike many health sites, BestTreatments requires very little personal information from its users. To access the site, you need to either enter a user name and password or follow a link to us from one of our approved partner sites. That's it. You'll have full access to the site, and you won't be required to share details about your age, gender, health concerns or any other topic unless you choose to do so. Your health plan has not given BestTreatments access to any personal information about you, so we cannot identify who you are from your user name or password. If you follow a link to us from another site, we will record the site you have come from but nothing else about you. Your insurer won't know what you've looked at while on our site. BestTreatments does not provide health insurers or anyone else with specific details about the people who have visited our site. Once you start using the site, we may track and keep a record of the pages you visit. We collect this data from groups of users to get a sense of how people are using our site and which are the popular topics. This helps us improve what we offer on BestTreatments. BestTreatments does feature a few sections where users can submit additional information and share personal details. Participation is entirely voluntary. Search: Our search tool allows you to type in words and phrases to track down information on specific conditions, treatments and symptoms. We keep a record of how visitors use search. For example, we will note the phrases or the words you enter into the search box. We will never tie this back to any other details about you. We collect these records to provide an overview of how users search for information. This helps us tailor the search tool to make it easier for people to find what they are looking for. Your comments: Visitors can provide their thoughts and opinions about BestTreatments using our online feedback form. This information is anonymous. We do not ask for names, contact details or any other information that might personally identify individuals, nor do we link the submissions to user names or passwords. Contact us: In this section, visitors can e-mail questions and comments to our staff. The message you send and the reply you receive from us will not be encrypted. This means that if, in the unlikely event an e-mail message is intercepted by an unauthorized person, this person will be able to read the message. When we receive an e-mail from you, we will store your e-mail address and question in a secure environment. We will never allow anyone outside of our organization to read your e-mails to us.
Cookies
Once you have accessed BestTreatments, we will store a temporary "cookie" on your computer, indicating that you are authorized to use the site. Cookies are small text files that are saved by your Web browser and enable you to move throughout the site without having to sign in each time you look at a different page. We cannot identify you from these cookies. They simply tell us whether pages have been requested by the same person or two different people. The cookies we use are "session cookies," which means they disappear when you shut down your Web browser.
IP addresses
Each time you use the Internet, your Internet service provider assigns your computer a number called an IP address. This number may be the same or different each time you go online. BestTreatments uses visitors' IP addresses to gather general data about site traffic. Each time your computer requests information from our site, we log your IP address on our server. We cannot identify you from your IP address.
Linking off our site
Occasionally, you will encounter links to other sites that are not related in any way to BestTreatments. Please be aware that once you click to one of these sites, you are subject to that site's privacy policy and not to ours. You may wish to review the privacy policy for each site you visit.
Security
We understand that the security of your personal and health information is important to you. We also understand that our continued success as a health-information provider relies on our ability to communicate with you in a secure manner. We adhere to the highest standards of decency, fairness and integrity in our operations. We use several measures to authenticate your identity when you visit our site. We also take steps to protect your information as it travels the Internet, and to make sure all information is as secure as possible against unauthorized access and use (for example, by hackers). We review our security measures regularly. Despite our best efforts, and the best efforts of other firms, "perfect security" does not exist on the Internet, or anywhere else. Authentication: If you have been given a user name and password to gain access to BestTreatments, you should not share these with other people. If you think you might lose or forget these identifiers, you should write them down but keep each in a separate place. Any e-mail between you and BestTreatments is not encrypted. It will be stored securely within our corporate firewall (see below). Data within our walls: The information we collect about people visiting the site is stored in secure environments that are not available to any other individual or party. We have mechanisms in place to protect data. One such mechanism is called a "firewall." A firewall is a barrier that allows only authorized traffic through. It safeguards our computer systems and your information. We also use system and application logs to track all access. We review these logs periodically and investigate any anomalies or discrepancies. Thank you for reviewing this information. If you have any questions, please send us an e-mail through our Contact us section.
