Febrile seizures
It's quite common for babies and young children to have brief seizures, if they have a fever. These are called febrile seizures.
It can be really scary to see your child having a seizure. But febrile seizures are usually over quickly, and children recover completely afterwards. Most children don't even need treatment.
Children can get febrile convulsions from when they are a few months old. They usually grow out of them by the time they're 5 or 6. Having simple febrile convulsions as a child doesn't cause any long-term health problems.
